How is knowledge management defined?
It is a process of capturing, keeping and spreading the idea or knowledge and experience of workers in the organization. Its goal is to provide a culture for learning that encourages knowledge sharing to employees. In addition, this will help organizations to obtain competitive advantage and empower workers to learn, be involved and be productive (Campbell, F. (2013)).
Knowledge management and learning development should integrate the knowledge resources, make sure new knowledge is shared constantly maybe through training, communities and learning materials. It should be able to identify gaps that needs to be filled and look for capability for an organization (Milton, N. (2015)).
Do you know that there are different types of knowledge that can be shared within an organization?
Tacit Knowledge is information that a person can keep in the mind and cannot share or distribute with others.
Explicit knowledge is where information or knowledge is easily taught. It may be from records, files, documents.

How important do you think knowledge management is for an organization?
With knowledge management, workers can establish a greater impact and make exceptional decisions. Further, it is an important aspect for an organizational culture and workers can contribute their knowledge and share with the organizations, rewarding them in turn. Decision making could be made easier as it gives workers the responsibility (Andreev, I. (2023)).
Do you think knowledge management can be useful for us?
Hill, J. (2021) wrote in his blog that knowledge management can be useful for an organization in many ways. Knowledge management platforms can easily interact new hiring people to give knowledge so that they will be able to understand the source of information and how to look into the information. This will help to save time when looking for information for the new employees and get what they need. Another usefulness is that knowledge management could help to improve training by ensuring that employees will get to to use quality training and materials and making new employees feel confident and productive when working with their team.
How is performance management defined?
360 learning, (2013) team explained that performance management is a management process that sets goals for employees and make them understand the goals about how to stay in line with the team and organization’s objectives at large. Foundation of performance management lies in transparency, guiding and rewarding.
Phogat, N. (2019) further mentioned that performance management strategy ensures that employee performance with goals of the organization will give excellent workforce performance and results and at the same time, reduce risks and costs that are included in HR processes. This will help to provide high performance for the organization.
Knowledge management & Performance management are both essential for a business.
If we learn and increase knowledge, we can improve performance and if we learn from performance, we can increase knowledge. Knowledge management should be linked with performance management in particular with the three functions of performance management (metrics, benchmarking, target setting). So that, performance will continuously improve through knowledge management.

Every organization should try to transfer tacit knowledge to explicit knowledge. For that there should be a effective knowledge management system.
